Launching on August 1, 1981, the channel has seen a number of its properties licensed for use in video game adaptations. Over the years, MTV has worked with Sega (primarily Sega of America) in collaborations ranging from events to televised specials, most notably the 1994 Sonic & Knuckles tournament Rock the Rock.
