The King of Fighters 2000 is the seventh installment (and sixth canonical installment) of The King of Fighters series which was originally released on the Neo-Geo arcade hardware by SNK. The Sega Dreamcast version of the game was only released in Japan in August of 2002.
Changes from the original Neo-Geo version include the addition of classic KoF stages from KoF '94 to KoF '99, it also adds some console exclusive Maniac Strikers to the game, unlike its predecessors, the game is not compatible with the Dreamcast to Neo Geo Pocket Color link cable.
The game was followed by The King of Fighters 2001.
