macOS, formerly known as Mac OS X and OS X, is a personal computer operating system developed by American technology company Apple. The primary rival to Microsoft's Windows operating system, it was released in March 2001, and is the successor to Classic Mac OS. Although macOS generally receives fewer games than its Windows counterpart, a number of first and third-party Sega games have been published to Apple's modern operating system.
