Pac-Man Pocket Player is a handheld gaming device themed around Pac-Man, manufactured by and sold by dreamGEAR. It includes 3 Pac-Man games from the 16-bit era with an official license from Bandai Namco.
The handheld is an unlicensed Sega Mega Drive clone that requires 4xAAA batteries or a Micro USB cable to be powered. Notably, it includes one new port of the original Pac-Man for a Sega system, who had a 1990 release for the Sega Game Gear, alongside another versions inside Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures plus Namco Museum and an unlicensed conversion from the MSX version that appeared in Korean multicarts for the Sega Master System. This version seems to be developed by Shiru[2], a known programmer in the Mega Drive homebrew scene.
Games included
- Pac-Man (new port based on the Arcade version)
- Pac-Mania
- Pac-Panic (European version of Pac-Attack)
For Pac-Mania and Pac-Panic, mentions of Sega were eliminated in them. Both games also had its respective 2 player modes stripped. Mentions of Tengen and Sculptured Software were also skipped in Pac-Mania as well.
