Bayonetta 2 (ベヨネッタ 2) is the sequel to Bayonetta and is being developed by PlatinumGames. It was published by Nintendo as a Wii U exclusive. Sega published the first game, but are not as directly involved in this sequel. They confirmed they are taking an advisory role, and are still credited as being involved with development in some way. They also remain the franchise owner of Bayonetta.

In Europe, three different editions of Bayonetta 2 were released, one with the game by itself, the "Special Edition" which comes with an enhanced version of the original Bayonetta beside it, and a "First Print Edition" that comes with the original Bayonetta plus an artbook. In regions outside Europe, the original Bayonetta comes with Bayonetta 2 by default but there is no edition that comes with the artbook.

Buying the game digitally gives the purchaser a discount for the original Bayonetta.

It was announced at the Video Game Awards 2017 that Bayonetta 2 would be coming to the Nintendo Switch in 2018 with the original Bayonetta in tow. Once again, purchasing the game digitally will give users a discount on the original Bayonetta.
