And we thought this was pratically solved... what the hell is doing Nihon Goraku Bussan in the Amusement Machine Show 1975 on a booth (6th photo) separated from Sega's booth (5th photo) ... haven't they merged with Rosen Enterprises ten years before this show to form Sega Enterprises?! ... damn, Sega... your history is a mess =| ... we need someone who could translate this...--Asagoth (talk) 11:59, 26 June 2019 (EDT)
This is my first time trying to reply to someone on segaretro, or on any sort of wikia for that matter, so excuse me if I am not doing it the right way. Being a student of Japanese for two years now, I can understand some of this text. When reading this, I do not see "bussan" anywhere, just Nihon Goraku and Nihon Goraku Kikai. When googling for Nihon Goraku I did find this website http://www.nihongoraku.co.jp/. When I look at their history on http://www.nihongoraku.co.jp/company/ it seems to say that they were founded in the year 1945 somewhere in Japan. Perhaps they are a different company all together? Do excuse me if I am talking nonsense, I am quite new here. - Konim96
- Well ... it's actually good to hear that I'm wrong... the names look too similar ... as you might know there was these two companies Nihon Kikai Seizou (日本機械製造) and Nihon Goraku Bussan (日本娯楽物産株式会社) ... according with this interview with Hisashi Suzuki, who was one of Sega’s first employees, published in Famitsu magazine's Sega Arcade History (2001), Nihon Kikai Seizou (日本機械製造) was the company that eventually became Sega (in 1962 the company was already trading as "Sega Incorporated"... they were Rock-Ola's foreign representatives in Japan... Nihon Kikai Seizou (日本機械製造) was acquired by Nihon Goraku Bussan (日本娯楽物産株式会社) in 1964 (as you can see Nihon Goraku Bussan, trading as "Uta-Matic Incorporated" inherited Nihon Kikai Seizou's rights as the foreign representive for Rock-Ola in Japan)... in 1965 Nihon Goraku Bussan merged with Rosen Enterprises to form Sega Enterprises... that website you found is probably from a different company with no relation ... so... thank you very much for your help... good to know it was just my mistake... :)...--Asagoth (talk) 09:58, 27 June 2019 (EDT)
- No problemo, I am glad I was of help. I do know a bit about Sega's history because I did a presentation about them for my Uni and I am currently writing a term paper on them as well. This whole website has been of a lot of help for me this semester, which is why I should be the one thanking you guys for making Sega Retro and for all the sources you provided me with!
