The Itchy & Scratchy Game is a Sega Game Gear action game based on The Simpsons franchise.
Gameplay
The Itchy & Scratchy Game is a side-scrolling action game where as Itchy (the mouse) your task is to hunt down and hurt Scratchy (the cat) until his life meter is depleted. Computer-controlled Scratchy's task is to achieve the opposite - to deplete Itchy's health meter. There are a number of weapons and hazards that can be used in each of the stages, and between levels Itchy has to fight Scratchy as a "boss".
At the time of release, only a very small handful of Itchy & Scratchy shorts had been shown in The Simpsons, so much of the game's material can be traced back to early seasons of the show.
