"Heather"

When paused, press Left C Down Up B Right. This will max out Garfield's health, lives and projectiles, and cause the text "HEATHER" to appear when the game is paused. Pausing three times after this will cause the game to reset.

It is not known who "Heather" is, although Heather Meigs worked on the game as a tester and so might have used this code during development.

When paused, press A Right C C B Up  START . Garfield's collision will be turned off, and his X and Y positions can be freely manipulated by the D-Pad. While Garfield can still collect items, the face buttons do nothing in this mode, so the code must be entered again in order to legitimately finish levels.

Pause the game and press 1 1 2 2 1 2. The options are as follows:

  • LEVEL: A level select. Press 1 to jump to the selected level.
  • SOUND: Select a value, and press 1 to play its associated sound effect.
  • MUSIC: Select a value, and press 1 to play its associated music.
  • GARFIELD Y/X: Prints Garfield's current X and Y coordinates.

Press 2 to display the next page with even more options:

  • X WALK: Modifies Garfield's walking speed on the ground.
  • X RUN: Modifies Garfield's running speed on the ground.
  • X JUMP WALK: Modifies Garfield's walking speed in the air.
  • X JUMP RUN: Modifies Garfield's running speed in the air.
  • X DECEL: Modifies the rate of deceleration from movement.
  • Y JUMP SPEED: Modifies the momentum of Garfield's jump.
  • Y GRAVITY: Modifies the height of Garfield's jump (lower bit).
  • Y GRAVITY A: Modifies the height of Garfield's jump (upper bit).
  • Y SPEED LIMIT: Modifies the proper speed of Garfield's jump.
  • GUN: Sets Garfield's weapon.
  • LIFE: Adjusts how many lives Garfield has.
  • POWER: Adjusts how much health Garfield has.
  • CONTINUE: Adjusts how many continues Garfield has.
  • UNLIMITED LIFE: Set this to any non-zero value for infinite health.
  • UNLIMITED GUN: Set this to any non-zero value for infinite weapons.

Free movement

Free movement is enabled after closing the debug menu with 2 (see above). Move Garfield around with the D-Pad and press 1 to place him.

Select Garfield, the monster, and the mouse with the cheese as a password from left to right, then press Enter at the top of the screen to display the Levels submenu.
