MicroProse, Inc. was an American video game developer and publisher which specialized in personal computer strategy simulation games, most notably the critically-acclaimed Civilization and X-COM series.

MicroProse was founded by "Wild" Bill Stealey and Sid Meier in 1982

MicroProse was acquired by Spectrum HoloByte in 1993, which later rebranded itself and its subsidiaries under the name MicroProse. The branding continued to be utilized until Hasbro Interactive was acquired by Infogrames in 2001.
