Talk:R 20 Rockman & Rockman X Official Complete Works
From Sega Retro
I think this is outside the scope of Sega Retro - the book does reference Sega games, but I'd vote it's more of a "shove it on Retro CDN and link to it" situation than something deserving of its own page. Thoughts? -Black Squirrel (talk) 07:10, 11 June 2022 (EDT)
- Well... I was just "exercising my Sega Retro citizenship" (you know... tags and such... helping newcomers... etc...)... I've never seen this book before and I don't know what to say about it... (I know.. it's no help at all...)... :) ... Asagoth (talk) 07:47, 11 June 2022 (EDT)
- I'm really curious about this one. Or more, the question of "What do we do with products that somewhat-represent Sega products?" It's a question I've been running into with the "References" pages too. Is there a certain criteria for inclusion here? Is it just left to the editor depending on the circumstances? Like, "If Sega-relevant things are only 20% or less or the given subject, they're not included." or something like that? It's the reason it doesn't feel right creating a page for Chiptuned Rockman: it does represent a Sega product, but to such a small percentage it doesn't feel right to include it here. Lest anyone say we're "ignoring content" by not creating some of these pages, it might be good to go to these individual articles and instead write that info into the body of the article. Like somewhere in the Legacy section, "X game has also received coverage in the book Y, and an arranged track on the album Z." or something. Might be a good solution for cases like this? This is an interesting question :) CartridgeCulture (talk) 01:01, 12 June 2022 (EDT)
- A note on the game page would probably be better
- I wouldn't want to dictate an exact percentage of what needs to be Sega-related for a page on this wiki - we have multi-platform magazines and TV shows here, even if Sega only represents small portion of those things, because the fancy database technology is on Sega Retro and not Retro CDN. I can see the thought process of wanting to a similar thing for individual books.
- But to me the question is "does it justify an article?". As in, is there anything to actually write about, or is it just a glorified wrapper for a PDF file. If, for our purposes, the page would be little more than "this thing exists", using Template:Refinfo on a File page might be sufficient. -Black Squirrel (talk) 07:26, 12 June 2022 (EDT)
- Ohyeahhhhh. You've mentioned that before: "does it justify an article?" Thanks for the reminder, that's a much better mental yardstick to measure from. And agreed, refinfo's probably the way to go. CartridgeCulture (talk) 07:41, 12 June 2022 (EDT)
