Sponsored by Sega
Melchester Rovers (United Kingdom; 1991-1992)
Sega Europe sponsored the fictitious Melchester Rovers team from (then weekly) British comic Roy of the Rovers[1]. Publisher IPC Magazines ran a competition to design the 1991/1992 season kit, which was won by readers Robert Moore (home) and Richard Jones (away), although they had no control over the sponsorships.
The Sega-sponsored kit debuted in the 24th August 1991 issue and continued until the summer of 1992, when the main sponsor was replaced with TSB. Several competitions to win Sega products were also featured in the comic during this period.

Sega sponsored[2][3] Austrian football club Favoritner Athletik Club in the 1992/1993 season of the Austrian Football Second League, the second-highest professional division in Austrian football. The club finished fourth in the league in that season, reaching the Semi-finals of the Austrian Cup (lost to SK Rapid Wien[4]) and winning the Wiener Stadthallenturnier[5][6][7][8][9] (Wiener Stadthalle Tournament), the most prestigious indoor football tournament in Austria, held from 1959 to 2009 during the winter break of the Austrian football championship.

Sega used Urawa Reds players for motion capture data when developing the Sega Dreamcast game, J.League Pro Soccer Club o Tsukurou!. This led Smilebit becoming a stadium sponsor in 2000 and 2001 and a kit sponsor in 2003 and 2004 (with the logo appearing on the player's shorts). In 2005, once Smilebit had been absorbed back into Sega, the main Sega branding was used instead[26].
Sega did not continue the sponsorship deal for the 2006 season, despite the team winning the championship that year.
