Gameplay
While similar to its Mega Drive counterpart, F1: World Championship Edition features fewer teams, tracks and settings and is always played from a third-person perspective. Tracks are also 2D, lacking the slopes of the Mega Drive version (and several 3D effects).
Teams
Unlike the Mega Drive version where you select a constructor, then driver, on the Game Gear you select drivers. Only six constructors (of the fourteen seen in the 1994 season) are represented in this version of the game.
- D.Hill (Williams)
- D.Coulthard (Williams)
- M.Schumacher (Benetton)
- J.Lehto (Benetton)
- M.Hakkinen (McLaren)
- M.Brundell (McLaren)
- J.Alesi (Ferrari)
- G.Berger (Ferrari)
- J.Herbert (Lotus)
- P.Lamy (Lotus)
- U.Katayama (Tyrrell)
- M.Blundell (Tyrrell)
Tracks
Similarly, only half of the tracks seen in the 1994 season are represented on the Game Gear:
- Monaco
- Japan
- France
- Germany
- Brazil
- England
- Canada
- Spain
