At the Hudson Soft screen upon starting the game, press START 15 times per second for six seconds until the intro FMV begins. There is no confirmation chime, but if done correctly, the three Bonus Zone arenas can be selected in the Battle Mode.[1]
This is expected to be performed automatically using Hudson's SBom Joycard controller set to Hu Position, but can be performed manually by achieving a press rate equal or higher to that of Takahashi Meijin (Hudson Soft spokesperson and Japanese gaming celebrity famous for achieving 16 presses per second).
