The Walt Disney Company, commonly known as simply Disney, is an American media conglomerate and entertainment company, and one of the world's most recognizable names in the entertainment industry, notable for licensing its branding and various properties to game developers for the production of numerous Disney-licensed video games through its subsidiary Disney Enterprises, Inc.
The company also has a long history of running its own dedicated video game development studios, starting with the establishment of Disney Software in 1988.
It has owned Marvel Entertainment since 2009, LucasArts (through its acquisition of Lucasfilm) since 2012, and 20th Century Fox since 2019.
