Initial D: Arcade Stage (頭文字 D ARCADE STAGE) is an arcade racing game based on the Initial D franchise. It was the first in a long line of arcade racers to be released by Sega for Sega arcade platforms, this one seeing a 2002 release on Sega NAOMI 2 hardware. It was released in the US and Europe under the basic title of Initial D. This version was not ported to any home consoles. Sega Logistics Service announced it would end service on the machines on March 31, 2017.[3][4]

Courses
Myogi | |
---|---|
Difficulty: Easy | |
A circuit course created specifically for this game, inspired by the mountain pass on Mount Myogi, home of the NightKids. It condenses the original characteristics of the pass to be more approachable to beginner players. The course is wide and leaves plenty of room to speed up and gently corner, with a single hairpin turn to practice drifting.
| |
Usui | |
Difficulty: Normal | |
A circuit course created specifically for this game, inspired by the Usui Pass, including landmarks: Oginoya, Megane Bridge and C121 Corner. It has complex uphill/downhill segments and tight corners, including 2 hairpin turn in opposite rotations.
| |
Akina | |
Difficulty: Hard | |
Accurately recreates the layout of the real-life Mount Haruna, and is the tofu delivery course of series protagonist Takumi Fujiwara. The course has a mix of low, medium and high speed corners, as well as 5 consecutive hairpin turns.
| |
Happogahara | |
Difficulty: Very Hard | |
In the original series, this is where protagonist Takumi Fujiwara battles professional racer Tomoyuki Tachi[5][6]. While it recreates the original course, the original series had characters race both downhill and uphill in a single lap, so in place of that, another course is added at the end. The course is mainly comprised of low-speed corners, the only straights existing between sections 1 and 2.
