Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE Encore, called Genei Ibunroku ♯FE Encore (幻影異聞録♯FE Encore) in Japan, is a RPG developed by Atlus and published by Nintendo. The game features characters from various Fire Emblem games and elements from the Shin Megami Tensei series. It is an enhanced version of the Wii U game Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE for the Nintendo Switch.
In Japan, upon the announcement of the title, Nintendo used video footage and screenshots of the original Wii U Japanese release despite the game being based off of the International version of the game. This angered Japanese fans so much that Nintendo issued an apology on their website on 18 October 2019 offering full refunds to customers who had pre-purchased the game on the Switch eShop and the My Nintendo Store.
For the Japanese audience specifically, the International version meant that they were losing out on DLC that was originally available to them on the Wii U. Sales of the Wii U version of the game skyrocketed in response and became the #1 Wii U game on Amazon Japan with the Wii U version's Fortissimo Edition becoming #5.
