UFO Catcher 9 (UFOキャッチャー9) is an arcade prize redemption game created by Sega. It is the newest iteration of Sega's popular UFO Catcher crane games, and was announced at JAEPO 2016. Improvements include no front pillar and a transparent plexiglass backing panel, allowing prizes to be viewed from all angles and providing operators flexibility in placing the machine. In addition, the playfield is broken up into sections, each of which have individually-adjustable heights.[3].
UFO Catcher 9 is the first UFO Catcher to implement LCD touchscreens on the control panel. The LCD screens display the remaining time, provide tips for playing the game, and may also be used to temporarily "hold" the machine for a player while he or she exchanges money.
