Yoshinori Ohgane (大金 義規) is a programmer at Sega. He joined Mechatro in 2003, with his first project being StarHorse 2 New Generation.[1]
Career
Having loved video games since childhood, and with programming being one of the kinds of jobs he was looking for, Yoshinori Ohgane joined Sega, as it could provide an environment to both design features and implement them in games with a wide audience.[1] Making his debut in the Mechatro department in 2003, he considered his role as programmer to be more diverse than that of other departments' programmers, as he would be involved with mechanical hardware programming, satellite networks, in-game functions and video graphics.[1] Ohgane's first game, StarHorse 2 New Generation, was developed for over a year and a half.[1] Following its release, he expressed interest in broadening his range to computer graphics and control systems.[1]
He would continue to program for the StarHorse series and be thanked in future installments. Several StarHorse-related patents credit their invention Yoshinori Ohgane, as well as Naoyuki Sato, Kenji Uchida and Masanori Tsuchimoto.[2] A few years after the merging of Sega Interactive and Sega Games, Ohgane began offering development support and technical direction to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.
