UFO À La Carte (UFOあらかると) is a two-player UFO Catcher game created by Sega in 1996, and the first in the UFO À La Carte series. Unlike traditional UFO Catchers with a claw that drops down to pick up prizes from the bottom of the cabinet, the prizes in UFO À La Carte are hung on rows of pegs, allowing them to be pulled down by a horizontally-extending UFO arm mounted on a post in the front of the cabinet. Like typical UFO Catcher games, two single-use buttons are used to control the arm: one for horizontal movement and one for vertical movement.
The unique gameplay style and ability to dispense virtually any kind of merchandise (plush, keychains, figures, etc.) led UFO À La Carte to become very popular in Japanese arcades. It spawned several successors: UFO À La Carte 2 and UFO À La Carte DX.
Sega Logistics Service announced it would end service on the machines on March 31, 2017.[2][3]
