Waku Waku 7 (わくわく7) is a fighting game by Sunsoft. Originally for Neo Geo MVS arcade hardware, it was ported to the Sega Saturn in 1997. It was only released in Japan.

Story

According to legend, collecting all seven of the Waku Waku Balls grants any wish. Seven fighters have obtained one Waku Waku Ball each and now battle for the others.

Waku Waku 7 is a one-on-one fighting game and spiritual sequel to Galaxy Fight.

Pressing Z is equivalent to pressing  LP + HP , and pressing C is equivalent to pressing  LK + HK .

Each character has four costume colors available, depending on which of the attack buttons is used to select them, plus a "dark" color scheme only used for the mirror match opponent in the single-player game.

Rai (ライ)

Move list (Special moves)
Name Command Description
Inazuma Cannon Down Down-right Right P Rai swings his arm, causing a fiery spark to roll partway across the floor. When performed in midair, he flings an energy ball diagonally downwards. The projectile moves faster when the move is performed with  HP .
ES move: Rai swings both arms, causing two energy orbs to fly most of the way across the screen. This move knocks down the opponent. When performed in midair, he flings two energy orbs diagonally downwards.
Inazuma Crash Down Down-left Left P Rai glides forward with an electrified fist. This move knocks down the opponent. He glides slightly further when the move is performed with  HP .
ES move: Rai does a version of the move where he glides further and can hit multiple times.
Inazuma Upper Right Down Down-right PPPPP Rai rises into the air with an uppercut. He hits additional times when P is pressed repeatedly (but only if the initial hits connect). He rises higher and can hit more times when the move is performed with  HP .
ES move: Rai does a version of the move that he can hit more times.

Chouryoku Gourai Dengeki Ken Right Left Down-left Down Down-right Right  LK + HK  Rai rushes to his opponent. If he reaches the opponent, he follows up with a series of quick attacks, finishing with multiple electrified rising uppercuts.

Name Command Description
Slash Shot Down Down-right Right P Slash slashes his sword, causing an energy orb to surge through the air in front of him. This move knocks down the opponent. The projectile appears further away when the move is performed with  HP .
ES move: Slash stabs his sword into the ground, causing three energy geysers to erupt from the ground in front of him in a series. This move knocks down the opponent.
Slash Barrier Down Down-left Left P Slash slashes around himself in circles. This move knocks down the opponent. He slashes two times when the move is performed with  LP  and four times when the move is performed with  HP .
ES move: Slash does a version of the move where he slashes ten times.
Slash Dynamic Right Down Down-right P Slash rises into the air while cutting his sword upward. This move knocks down the opponent. He rises higher and slashes an additional time in midair when the move is performed with  HP .
ES move: Slash does a version of the move where he rises higher and slashes three additional times in midair.
Slash Teleport Left Down Down-left P or K Slash disappears and reappears somewhere else. He reappears behind his current position but in the air with  LP , at his current position but in the air with  HP , in front of his current position but in the air with  LK , or in front of his current position and on the ground with  HK . When performed in midair, he reappears on the ground with  LP ,  HP , or  LK  and in the air with  HK .

Slash Collider Right Down-right Down Down-left Left  HK  (close) Slash grabs and stabs his opponent with his energy-infused sword. This move knocks the opponent into the wall.

Darkness Slash Right Left Down-left Down Down-right Right  LK + HK  Slash rushes to his opponent. If he reaches the opponent, he follows up with a series of sword slashes, then rises into the air while cutting his sword upward, slashing two additional times in midair.

Tesse (ティセ)

Name Command Description
Arekore Poi Down Down-right Right, then hold P Tesse throws an object. If P is pressed but not held, she tosses a teacup in an arc. If P is held, she cycles through multiple objects depending on how long the button is held (eventually shooting a giant bullet if the player does not release the button). This move can be performed in midair.
ES move: Tesse throws three objects in quick succession. If P is pressed but not held, she tosses a teacup, then throws a plate and a book. If P is held, she cycles through multiple objects depending on how long the button is held (eventually shooting a giant bullet, a cannonball, and a potted cactus if the player does not release the button).
Chikuchiku Attack Right Down Down-right P Tesse charges forward while plunging a hypodermic needle ahead. This move saps the opponent's power meter, then knocks down the opponent. She charges further and can hit more times when the move is performed with  HP .
ES move: Tesse does a version of the move that travels further.
Chuuchuu Attack Left Down Down-left P Tesse charges forward while plunging a hypodermic needle ahead. This move saps the opponent's vitality, then knocks down the opponent. She charges further and can hit more times when the move is performed with  HP .

Denshi Kousen Down Down-right Right K Tesse waves her hands and shoots electric bursts toward the ground in front of her. This move knocks down the opponent. She shoots two bursts when the move is performed with  LK  and three bursts further when the move is performed with  HK .

Politank Z (ポリタンク Z)

Name Command Description
Z Dama Down Down-right Right, then hold P Politank Z fires a shell from its cannon. If P is pressed but not held, it shoots a small shell in a short arc. If P is held, it shoots a larger shell a much farther distance.
ES move: Politank Z fires a bombardment of shells at varying distances.
Dokudoku Smoke Down Down-right Right K Politank Z turns around and shoots a puff of smoke from its exhaust pipe, which travels a short distance before dissipating. The smoke stuns the opponent if it hits.
ES move: Politank Z does a version of the move that shoots two puffs of smoke.
Gururin Mogurin Left Down-left Down K Politank Z spins around and drills into the ground, then pops out of the ground a distance ahead. This move knocks down the opponent. It pops out farther when the move is performed with  HK .
ES move: Politank Z spins around and drills into the ground, then pops out of the ground and rushes forward while attacking with its drilling spikes. This move knocks the opponent into the wall.

Guruguru Punch Down Down-right Right P Marurun winds up his arm, then slides slightly forward with a big punch that can hit multiple times. This move knocks down the opponent if all of the hits connect. He slides slightly further when the move is performed with  HP .
ES move: Marurun does a version of the move that reaches further and knocks the opponent into the wall.
Body Press Down Down-left Left K Marurun uses his arms to vault forward and slam his body into the ground. This move knocks down the opponent.
ES move: Marurun does a version of the move where he vaults forward twice.
Bunbun Copter Right Down Down-right P Marurun spins his outstretched arms while rising into the air. He ascends higher when the move is performed with  HP . This move can be performed in midair.

Hissatsu Rope Down Down-right Right PPPPP Dandy J whips his rope ahead while standing. He hits multiple times if P is pressed repeatedly, and he can follow up by pulling the opponent back toward him by pressing Left+P.
ES move: Dandy J whips his rope ahead while standing, which turns into four stacked energy beams.
Shagami Hissatsu Rope Down Down-right Right KKKKK Dandy J whips his rope ahead while kneeling. He hits multiple times if K is pressed repeatedly, and he can follow up by pulling the opponent back toward him by pressing Left+K. This move can only be blocked while crouching.
ES move: Dandy J whips his rope ahead while kneeling, which turns into four stacked energy beams.
Kyou Ijintai Hakka Ken Right Down Down-right P Dandy J swings his rope downward. This move sweeps the opponent and can only be blocked while crouching.
ES move: Dandy J swings his rope downward, then advances forward while swinging his rope high, finishing by swinging his rope downward and knocking the opponent into the wall.
Natsumi Rampoo Tou Nage Down Down-left Left Down Down-left Left P Natsumi curls Ranpoo into a ball and hurls her into the foreground.

ES move: Arina throws a giant heart across the screen. This move knocks down the opponent.

Versions

The Saturn port is often looked on as being a weaker version, as despite requiring an extra 1MB RAM cartridge, it offers more pixelated backgrounds and longer loading times than the Neo Geo version.
