Virtua Cop 3 (バーチャコップ3) is an arcade game developed by Sega-AM2 as a sequel to Virtua Cop 2. It was released in 2003 for Sega Chihiro hardware. Like its prequels, it is a light gun shoot-'em-up, however unlike its prequels it has yet to be ported to a home system. Sega Logistics Service announced it would end service on the machines on March 31, 2017.[2][3]

Located in the office district at the center of Virtua City. The area is filled with many skyscrapers and company buildings. One of these, a pharmaceutical company conducting cell and genetic research in their cutting-edge laboratory, is overtaken by an armed group in the dead of night.
The Virtua Cops' mission is to take control of the building and apprehend the culprits. Flown in by helicopter and dropping from above, they use plastic bombs to make an entrance to to the facility at the exhibition hall on the 72nd floor[4].

Located at The Military Base on the outskirts of Virtua City, which houses the air defense Scramblers, a tank unit designed for urban warfare, and is rumoured to also house top-secret next generation tanks. One night during heavy rain, all communications are lost with the base. With no outside attack confirmed, it is suspected to have been a coup. The Virtua Cops (accompanied by Janet) must infiltrate the base through the underground waterways and report back in secret, but are cleared to respond appropriately to hostilities[4].
