Mariko Nanba (南波 真理子), born June 28, 1971, in Chiba prefecture, Japan, is a composer for Wave Master best known for her work with the Sonic the Hedgehog series' music. Her interest in music started at age 4, when she began piano lessons. From there, she attended Tokyo Conservatoire Shobi (college of music) and in 1994, sent a demo tape to the Sega Digital Media department. She was hired, and worked on her first game, Panic!, where she handled mastering (MA) duties in the sound department.

Nanba enjoys drinking coffee and beer and eating soba—one of her favorite hobbies is having a nice dinner ("to enjoy delicious foods!") Her favorite musician is Burt Bacharach, and some favorite games include Mother 2 (aka Earthbound), Kowloon's Gate, Azel: Panzer Dragoon RPG and Space Channel 5.

Among the studio gear Nanba uses are Macintosh, Pro Tools, Studio Vision, Micro KORG, Recorder, etc.
