Rome: Total War is a strategy game developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Activision for the Windows PC in 2004. Two expansion packs were published by Sega — Rome: Total War Barbarian Invasion in 2005 and Rome: Total War Alexander in 2006. The core game continues to be published as part of a "Gold Edition" (which includes the Barbarian Invasion expansion pack) by Sega.
It is unclear if the standalone game was released in Japan, but both Barbarian Invasion and the Gold Edition (as Rome: Total War Nihongo Kanzenban (ROME : Total War 日本語完全版)), were.
Barbarian Invasion takes place during the decline of the Roman Empire in 4th and 5th century AD. Alexander is set in the early Empire, with the player assuming the role of Alexander the Great beginning in 336 BC.
