Story
Over a millennium ago, in a far away part of the galaxy, a huge interstellar war had taken place. During the conflict, a large machine escapes the battlefield. Its guidance system damaged and pilot dead, it continued to hurtle outward into space. After a time, it crashed into the planet of Vay. This planet is inhabited by people, but they have little technology. The machine, programmed only for death, rampages across the planet killing and destroying anything it sees.
It takes the combined forces of the five mightiest wizards on the planet to stop the machine. Its power is sealed away in five magical orbs, which are taken to far away hidden places. The machine itself is also locked away.
In the kingdom of Lorath, Prince Sandor is about to wed his love, Lady Elin. The most important dignitaries of the four kingdoms have attended, ensuring that the Kingdom of Lorath is secure for another generation.
While in the middle of their wedding ceremony, the castle is attacked by a large fleet of robots under the command of the ruthless and bloodthirsty Danek Empire. During the siege, Lorath Castle is reduced to ruins, and Elin is kidnapped by one of the machines.
Sandor vows to rescue his betrothed from her captors and liberate his kingdom. To do so, he must find the five orbs and activate the legendary Armor of Vay.
Gameplay
The game is a role-playing game with an overhead perspective. The player controls Prince Sandor, who wanders the world of Vay in search of the five orbs. Other characters join him in his quest. Some events are supplemented by short cutscenes and voice acting.
The game has an overworld containing various towns and dungeons. Towns have stores where the player can spend gold on improved equipment, such as weapons and armor, and other items for the characters. Sandor can talk to non-player characters in towns to unfold the story. Dungeons are filled with monsters to fight, often culminating in a boss encounter and typically containing important items that advance the plot. Characters can also find useful items in treasure chests within the dungeons. Sandor moves through the overworld and dungeons using the D-Pad; he moves faster if the player holds . The player can view a map of the overworld with START .
Sandor randomly encounter enemy monsters while moving through the overworld and dungeons (but not in towns). Battles and turn-based and conducted through a menu system. The party faces as many as four different monsters in a battle. Each character in the party is given a turn, during which the character can choose to attack an enemy, cast a spell, use an item, or defend (improving the character's defense for the turn). The party can attempt to flee from the encounter, though this is not always successful and leaves the characters vulnerable to attack. Turn order in a battle is typically determined by each character's statistics. If "ambushed," all of the enemy monsters have the opportunity to attack the player characters first; if the party enters the battle with an "attack advantage," they instead get to do their turns first. The player has the option to choose AI and allow the computer to play the battle. The computer attacks enemies and also uses healing spells and items automatically when characters are low on health.
After emerging victorious from a battle, characters are rewarded with experience and gold. If a character falls in battle, the character is unavailable for use for the rest of the battle but revives afterwards with a single hit point. The game ends if the entire party is defeated and must be restarted or continued from a save.
As characters gain experience from combat, they increase their levels, causing them to increase in statistics and learn new spells. Characters have the following statistics:
- HP: The character's hit points. The character is felled in combat upon losing all of his or her hit points.
- MP: The character's magic points. Casting spells costs magic points, and a spell cannot be cast if the character does not have enough magic points.
- ATK: The character's attack power.
- DEF: The character's resistance to enemy attacks.
- STR: Strength, which determines the power of the character's physical attacks.
- AGL: Agility, which determines turn priority.
- LCK: Luck, which determines the character's likelihood to dodge an enemy attack.
- WIS: Wisdom, which determines the power of the character's magical attacks.
Characters have their hit points and magic points restored when they gain a level. The party can recover their hit points and magic points for a small fee by resting at an inn in town.
The player can invoke a menu with outside of battle to use items, cast spells, equip weapons and armor, check each character's statistics, or save or load the game. The party has a shared item inventory, with each slot able to hold as many as 9 of a single item. Each character can equip a weapon, a shield, an armor piece on his or her arm, body, and head, and an additional accessory. Each equipped item improves the character's statistics in some way.
Characters
Prince Sandor is the leader of the party, which can contain as many as four members. Other characters join and leave according to plot developments.

The main character. He is the Prince of the Kingdom of Lorath. The Danek Empire savagely attacked the castle on his wedding day, killing his parents and capturing his bride. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pottle | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Pottle is the eager student of Otto the Wise who accompanies Sandor on his journey to find the orbs. He is an adept magic user. He is also proficient with a bow, which allows him to attack enemies safely from long range.
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rachel | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Rachel is a thrill-seeking mercenary who joins the party after Sandor and Pottle help her fight a monster in Droust Cave. She is a seasoned fighter and the only character who can equip claws, which provide a bonus to Agility.
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
P.J. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Prudence Jurissa, or P.J., is a skillful magician who has a crush on Sandor. The King of Kerzalt sends her with Sandor to help him acquire the second orb. She is the only character who can equip staves, which provide a bonus to Wisdom.
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lynx | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lynx is a carousing bard. Sandor finds him in Vaygress being thrown out of a tavern, and he joins the party when Sandor, needing someone to sing to the monster Maytake, pays his tab. Though he is a poor singer, he is a competent fighter (and the only character who can equip spears) and a talented magician.
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kinsey | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kinsey is a tough pirate who offers Sandor and the party passage in her ship. She joins the party when the Danek sink her ship. She is an adept fighter and the only character who can equip whips, which attack every enemy in a single turn.
