Start battle game, and on the "which mode?" screen, hold L+R until a sound plays. This will unlock two extra characters, Manto and Yuna.

Manto orginates from the 1995 arcade game, Far East of Eden: Kabuki Klash (known as Tengai Makyou Shinden (天外魔境真伝) in Japan) and always has a Power Glove, while Yuna comes from the Ginga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna (銀河お嬢様伝説ユナ) series, of which Hudson Soft had the license to make games for. She starts with more speed than other characters.

When selecting a stage in battle game, hold X+Y+Z until a sound plays. Now you can adjust the "time of day" by using Up and Down. Switching between times of day does not change the aesthetics of the stage, but instead alters the rules, changing block positions or floor layouts, or increasing the speed of players. Each "time" and stage combination is unique.

In the Japanese version, only two extra times of day are unlocked, with the third (the Night Sky variant) locked behind a more difficult method. At the options screen, press  START  15 times per second for six seconds until a chime is heard to unlock the final variant.[1] This is expected to be performed automatically using Hudson's SBom Joycard controller set to Hu Position, but can be performed manually by achieving a press rate equal or higher to that of Takahashi Meijin (Hudson Soft spokesperson and Japanese gaming celebrity famous for achieving 16 presses per second).
