Rise 2 Resurrection, known as Rise of the Robots 2 (ライズオブザロボット2) in Japan, is a fighting game for the Sega Saturn which stands as a sequel to Rise of the Robots. It is frequently referred to as Resurrection Rise 2, though despite the placement of the words in the logo, this is in fact an incorrect name for the game.

    Gameplay

Likely due to the cool reception of the original Rise of the Robots, Rise 2 chose to completely overhaul its combat system over its predecessor, creating something more akin to Mortal Kombat (complete with "executions" (fatalities) at the end of matches).

The player can select one of 18 different robots (as opposed to just Cyborg). All of the previous game's robots make a return, however some were "modified" and given new names. A further 5 robots are unlockable.

    History

As with the original game, it also had the involvement of Queen's Brian May, and as with that game only one track of his made it to the final release, titled Cyborg. Interestingly, said track appeared on Rise 2 first, although a redone version was included on May's solo album Another World in 1998.
