Devilish (デビリッシュ) is a 1991 game for the Sega Game Gear by Genki. According to text in the Japanese ROM, the game was the first game Genki developed. It was licensed to HOT-B for distribution in Europe; HOT-B then went and made a sequel on the Sega Mega Drive: Bad Omen/Devilish: The Next Possession.

Gameplay

The game is a Breakout variant: you control a pair of paddles in Breakout fashion as you try to send a ball up a long tunnel of blocks to break. Left and Right moves the paddles. Up and Down move the top paddle around the screen (it will always stay in line with the bottom paddle). 1 appears to do nothing (TODO). 2 cycles paddle orientations (both horizontal, both horizontal with the lower paddle split into two aligned at the top paddle's sides, top paddle vertical aligned to the left side of the bottom paddle, top paddle vertical aligned to the right side of the bottom paddle). Once the ball reaches a higher point on screen, it is impossible to go back down — not catching the ball will cause you to lose it, as in Breakout.
