You Momotani (百渓 曜) is a director at Sega of Japan best-known for the Border Break series.

Career

In the 90's, through an acquaintance who wrote for a video game magazine, You Momotani was asked to write said magazine. Later on, a different co-worker of Momotani's was involved with the development of Sega-AM2's Virtua Fighter 4 and approached Momotani to help with the series, leading him to becoming a subcontracted tester for Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution. He left Sega after his contract expired, but became addicted to Quest of D, also developed by AM2. In 2007, he joined Sega full-time to work on AM2's Border Break, released 2 years later[1].

His first role on Border Break was as a game designer, designing some of the game's aircraft and their behaviours, gradually taking on more tasks such as weapon, reward and items designs, before being promoted to director of the PlayStation 4 port.
