The King of Fighters: Dream Match 1999 (ザ・キング・オブ・ファイターズドリーム・マッチ 1999) is an entry in the The King of Fighters series that serves as an updated version of The King of Fighters '98, and was released among other systems for the Sega Dreamcast in 1999. It was not released in Europe.

This game is compatible with the Neo Geo Pocket/Dreamcast Setsuzoku Cable, which allows you to transfer stats between it and The King of Fighters R-2.

History

The game was once set to be a launch title for the Dreamcast in the US^[7], but was delayed at the last minute, arriving in late October.

Sequels and re-releases

The game was followed by The King of Fighters: Evolution, which is based off the Neo Geo arcade version of "The King of Fighters '99", leading to some name confusion among the entries.
