Road & Track Presents The Need For Speed, is a racing game developed by Pioneer Productions and published by Electronic Arts for a number of consoles including the Sega Saturn.
There are multiple versions of the first The Need For Speed game. The very first edition was released for the 3DO console in 1994, with a different version being released on DOS the following year. In 1996 the DOS version saw an update in the form of Road & Track Presents The Need For Speed SE with new tracks, support for DirectX 2 and new layers of polish. The Saturn and PlayStation ports stem from a combination of these two DOS versions - the new tracks from SE are missing, but the soundtrack from SE is in-tact.
In Japan, this game was significantly altered and released as Nissan Presents Over Drivin' GT-R.
