Hidden within the second level of the Clock Tower is a hidden early exit that shows one of two hidden message screens, depending on if you are playing in Normal or Hard mode.

Playing on Normal mode will present you with a screen featuring message from and a digitised version of an idol of the era known as Hiroko Nakayama (中山 博子) who in addition to being a presenter for the Japanese Video Game TV Show Game Catalogue II (ゲームカタログII) from April 1994 - September 1995, was also a big fan of the first Clockwork Knight game. She is also listed in the credits for the Japanese version of Clockwork Knight 2 where her role is listed as "Friendship Appearance (友情出演)" after the "Special Thanks" section.

Playing on Hard mode will present you with a screen featuring a message from and a 2D render of Hirokazu Hamamura (浜村 弘一), who in addition to being an irregular host on 'Game Catalogue II, was also former Weekly Famitsu chief editor. The entire editorial department of Weekly Famitsu is thanked in the credits of the Japanese version of Clockwork Knight 2 under the "Special Thanks" section.

The secret was briefly mentioned on the July 8, 1995 episode of the above mentioned 'Game Catalogue II, with some behind-the-scenes footage also shown.[1]

Both screens contain unique dialogue from one another, so it is worth checking both out.

This feature is exclusive to the NTSC-J version of the game.

Upon completing the game, if you have managed to collect all 32 Playing Cards hidden throughout the different rooms of the game, you are greeted with a congratulations screen and are then presented with a special cheat code.

Despite speculation on other sites, this cheat code is simply the same level select cheat written above, and not a code for a "hidden options menu".
