History
Development
Virtual Golf had a protracted development timeline, having originally been announced for the Mega CD as Tee-Off with an unknown release date before being moved onto the Sega 32X as Tee-Off! (not to be confused with the Sega Dreamcast game, Tee Off) and expected to arrive in 1995. The 32X version was cancelled, and much of the original press material, involving extensive use of pre-rendered 3D imagery was not used in the final product.
Tee-Off! was renamed The Scottish Open, and later The Scottish Open: Virtual Golf before settling with just Virtual Golf. A Sega Saturn port was started, before becoming the sole version of the game, and it was released in early 1996.
