Phantasy Star II: Yushis's Adventure (ファンタシースターII テキストアドベンチャー ユーシスの冒険) is a Visual Text Adventure game developed and published by Sega for the Sega Mega Drive. It was initially only available in Japan as a download through the Sega Game Toshokan service, but later would be re-released as part of Game no Kanzume: Sega Games Can Vol. 1 for Sega Mega CD, SEGA AGES 2500 Vol 32 Phantasy Star Complete Collection, and Sega's B-Club service. It is a part of a series of games with similar gameplay which are collectively called the Phantasy Star II Text Adventures by fans.
Plotline
The first half of the game takes place in the winter of AW 1274, about 10 years before the events of Phantasy Star II. The second half takes place 8 years onward.
Rolf (Japanese: ユーシス (Yūshisu or Eusis)) is a government agent working out of the town of Paseo on Motavia, and the main character of Phantasy Star II. This text adventure describes Rolf's childhood as a young and talented, but conceited sword prodigy, detailing his rescue of a childhood friend, eventually leading up to his induction as an agent in duty of the government.
Gameplay
Each of the Phantasy Star II Text Adventure games had identical gameplay mechanics which were. On the screen are small graphics showing an on-screen event as well as a textual description of it. The player can progress through the game using the "Move", "Look", "Take", "Use", and "Drop" commands. The player also has HP, which factors into battle sequences, and MST (Meseta), currency used in shops.
Fan Translation
Each of the Phantasy Star II Text Adventure Games has a fan translation by M.I.J.E.T. and IPS patches can be obtained on his website, however, unlike the others, this one had the character's name changed to that of his English counterpart, Eusis.
