Richard Davant Stewart III[4][5][6][7][8][9] was an American businessman and former Service Games key executive.
Personal life
Richard Stewart was born in El Paso, Texas on January 5, 1925 to Richard Davant Stewart Jr.[4][10][11] (son of Richard Davant Stewart[12][13] and Anne Caroline Hardy Stewart, both of Tyler, Alabama), a service station operator from Canutillo, Texas, and Mary Vermillion Stewart,[14][15][16] a schoolteacher (later Mary Vermillion Johnson[17][18], daughter of Dr. Henry Franklin Vermillion,[19][20][21][22][23] founder and first superintendent of the Southern Baptist Sanatorium[24][25][26][27][28] of El Paso, Texas and Ida Kate Gray Vermillion[29][30], both of Eastland, Texas) and his brothers were William Robert Stewart and Henry Vermillion Stewart, both of San Francisco, California and James Franklin Stewart[1][2][31], a rancher from Kelowna[32], British Columbia, Canada, who ran the Casorso, Bulman and Chilco ranches under the business name of Kelowna Ranch, Inc.[33] (incorporated on April 27, 1960[34] as Kelowna Ranches, Ltd.[35][36]), all descendants, through their father, of the Davant family, a Huguenot family who emigrated from England to Georgia in the 1700s.
Three of Richard Stewart's uncles, namely William Champness Stewart, James Davant Stewart and James Ogilvie Stewart Sr., were well known distributors of petroleum produtcs in El Paso, Texas. William Champness Stewart owned the Humble Oil Company, James Davant Stewart owned the Service Oil Sales Company and James Ogilvie Stewart Sr. owned the J. O. Stewart Oil Company. His cousin, James Ogilvie Stewart Jr. (son of James Ogilvie Stewart Sr.) was the founder of El Paso-based waste management company International Environmental Industries known as El Paso Disposal, acquired in 1999 by Roseville-based company Waste Connections.
