Eidos Interactive was a British video game publisher.
Eidos was originally formed to develop digitial video compression technologies, but found itself in the video game business after acquiring Domark in October 1995[1]. It would strengthen its position by acquiring CentreGold in April 1996, which included Core Design and U.S. Gold[1], benefiting significantly with the release of Tomb Raider and its successors.
The company would be merged into Square Enix Europe in 2009 and no longer exists as a separate entity. Many of its intellectual properties are now owned by the Embracer Group, after Square Enix sold most of its Western assets in August 2022.
