The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey & Minnie, known as Mickey to Minnie Magical Adventure 2 (ミッキーとミニー マジカルアドベンチャー2) in Japan, is a 1994 platform game developed and published Capcom for the Sega Mega Drive and Super NES. It is the second in their Disney's Magical Quest series, following the 1992 SNES game The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse.

No PAL version of the game was released, however it was scheduled for Australia in April 1995[3].

Story

Great Circus Mystery, Map.png

Map

Mickey and Minnie Mouse travel by bus to the circus at the edge of town where they are going to spend the day. When the bus arrives a little late, Goofy appears and tells Mickey and Minnie that everyone in the circus tents has disappeared. Mickey and Minnie are surprised by Goofy's claim but go to the circus and see it with their own eyes. At the circus, they realize that their friends Pluto and Donald are gone. Mickey and Minnie must now find out what is going on at the circus.

Gameplay

Great Circus Mystery, Store.png

General Store

The game is a platformer that can be played as Mickey or Minnie or as both in a cooperative game. A second player can join at any point during the game by pressing the  START  button. Mickey and Minnie are moved with Left or Right and duck with Down. They jump with B. They can stun enemies and attack bosses by jumping on top of them. They enter doors with Up. Over the course of the game, they collect special suits that give them new capabilities. The player can select the suit by pressing C, which cycles an icon in the top-left corner of the screen, and then press Z (or  START  with a three button control pad) to change to the selected suit.

Mickey and Minnie can collect coins by finding them hidden behind blocks or by vacuuming enemies with the Sweeper Outfit. Coins can be spent on items in the General Store. Entrances to the store are hidden throughout the stages.

Each character's life is represented by hearts in the top-left corner of the screen. They lose a heart each time they are hit by an enemy or a hazard. There are Big Hearts hidden throughout the game and purchasable in some of the stores that permanently extend the character's life by one heart. When a character loses all of their hearts, the player loses a chance. As long as the player has chances remaining, Mickey or Minnie is revived after a moment without restarting the stage. In a single-player game when the player runs out of chances or in two-player games when both players run out of chances, the game ends, but it can be continued any number of times from the beginning of the stage segment. In two-player games when one player runs out of chances, that player cannot be revived until the other player completes the current stage segment.

Suits

Great Circus Mystery, Suits.png
No Suit
When not wearing a special suit, Mickey and Minnie can pick up blocks and dazed enemies by pressing A while standing next to them and throw them by pressing A again. There is an alternate control scheme in the options where blocks and enemies are picked up by holding A and thrown by releasing A. Stunned enemies wake up after a duration and harm Mickey or Minnie if they wake up while being held. Blocks and enemies can be thrown at enemies to defeat them. Blocks can also be thrown at Treasure Blocks to open them. Thrown enemies spin around on the ground and potentially hit other enemies.
Great Circus Mystery, Suits.png
Sweeper Outfit
The Sweeper Outfit can vacuum up enemies by holding A while standing in place. If the enemy is sucked into the sweeper, a coin pops out the other end. The sweeper consumes power when it is used, which can be replenished by finding Lightning Batteries. The sweeper can also be used to move some objects or to put out flames. Donald Duck gives Mickey and Minnie the Sweeper Outfit in the middle of the Haunted Circus.
Great Circus Mystery, Suits.png
Safari Outfit
The Safari Outfit helps Mickey and Minnie reach new areas by equipping them with a climbing hook. They can use the hook on Swing Blocks to swing across gaps and up to higher levels. They automatically hook onto the block when they jump across it and can jump off of it by pressing B. They also automatically hook onto vines and other spans like a zipline. The Safari Outfit also gives Mickey and Minnie the ability to scale walls. They automatically attach to the wall when they touch it and climb with Up and Down. The Lonesome Ghosts give Mickey and Minnie the Safari Outfit at the beginning of the Jungle.
Great Circus Mystery, Suits.png
Western Wear
The Western Wear gives Mickey and Minnie a hobby horse and a cork gun. The cork gun is fired with A. Shooting the gun uses power, which can be replenished by finding Cork Gun items. The cork gun can be shot while jumping or ducking. Mickey and Minnie can perform the Desperado Dash by holding A until they start flashing. When A is released, they dash a certain distance, including across gaps. Using the dash also consumes power. The dash can be interrupted by pressing in the opposite direction of travel. The Lonesome Ghosts give Mickey and Minnie the Western Wear at the beginning of the Haunted House.
