The Sega Away Team was a team within Sega of America during the mid-1990s. It was created to help launch the Sega Saturn in the United States, as well as ease software development. It was originally established in late 1993 as "Tiger Team", before losing some staff and changing its name[1]. The division appears to have disappared back into SoA by 1996.
A long-standing misconception is that the "Away Team" played a heavy role in the Saturn console's development. This has yet to be confirmed - more likely it appears to have been more of a reactionary measure, presumably to streamline Japanese-to-US video game production.
