Choplifter III is the second of two numbered sequels to Choplifter. It was originally developed by Teeny Weeny Games and published by Ocean Software for the Game Boy, before being ported to the Sega Game Gear by Beam Software and published in 1994 by Extreme Entertainment Group.
Choplifter III on the Game Gear made specifically for the North American market, while its Game Boy counterpart was only released in Europe. The two versions of Choplifter III are pretty similar, save for the obvious addition of colors to the Game Gear version. A Super NES version was also released around the same period and a Sega Mega Drive version was planned, but cancelled for unknown reasons.
