Two variants of the Super Pad exist for reasons not fully understood; this "flatter" pad (P-042) which is both more common and the basis for the Super Pad 8, released for the Sega Saturn, and a more rounded pad (P-042C) which is identical to the 6 Button Arcade Pad (MK-1470) by Majesco (see that page for more details about the P-042C). The Super Pad (P-042), by Performance is a third-party Sega Mega Drive six button controller. Performance's Super Pads are very common third-party Mega Drive controllers, having been sold across the western world during the mid-to-late 1990s.

The P-042 does not have turbo features, and is merely an alternative to Sega's six button control pad. It is the basis for the Super Pad 8, released for the Sega Saturn.
