X-Perts is a sidescrolling action game for the Sega Mega Drive released exclusively in North America. It is a spin-off of Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side featuring Shadow Yamoto.

The initial run of X-Perts in North America incorrectly claimed on the box that the game had battery-back up saving. Later revisions covered up this error with a Deep Water sticker.

Story

In an alternate timeline in which she was not killed by the Black Orchid Corporation in 1993, the assassin Shadow Yamoto forms an ultra-secret counter-terrorist team called the X-Perts. A group of terrorists has taken over an undersea weapons factory. Unless the United Nations give into their demands, the terrorists will detonate a thermonuclear device that will destroy Earth. Shadow and her group must embark on a mission to avert the crisis.

Gameplay

The female ninja Shadow leads a team of two other fellow X-Perts in sabotage and other various missions. All three characters have character-specific special moves with differing attributes, along with three unique torture moves, which are used to interrogate various enemies. Players are able to switch characters mid-game in order to carry out different tasks.
