+ | Move lists assume the player is facing right. If facing left, left and right should be reversed.
+ | |||
+ | All of the characters from Real Bout Garou Densetsu return. Tung Fu Rue returns from Fatal Fury, and Cheng Sinzan, Laurence Blood, and Wolfgang Krauser return from Fatal Fury 2.
+ | |||
+ | Several moves have "fake" versions that play the initial animation and sound clip for the move without actually performing the move, in order to bait a response from the opponent.

+ | ==History== | ||
+ | ===Legacy=== | ||
+ | A sequel, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers, was released in 1998. However, it was exclusive to the Neo Geo MVS and AES and Neo Geo CD and not ported to any other consoles at the time, so it is the only mainline 2D Fatal Fury game not to receive a port to a Sega console.
+ | |||
+ | An update to the game called Real Bout Fatal Fury Special: Dominated Mind was released for the PlayStation exclusively in Japan in 1998. This version adds new moves and characters but removes the hidden characters and the two-line battle system.

Gameplay
Characters
Move lists assume the player is facing right. If facing left, and should be reversed.
All of the characters from Real Bout Garou Densetsu return. Tung Fu Rue returns from Fatal Fury, and Cheng Sinzan, Laurence Blood, and Wolfgang Krauser return from Fatal Fury 2.
Several moves have "fake" versions that play the initial animation and sound clip for the move without actually performing the move, in order to bait a response from the opponent.

History
Legacy
A sequel, Real Bout Fatal Fury 2: The Newcomers, was released in 1998. However, it was exclusive to the Neo Geo MVS and AES and Neo Geo CD and not ported to any other consoles at the time, so it is the only mainline 2D Fatal Fury game not to receive a port to a Sega console.
An update to the game called Real Bout Fatal Fury Special: Dominated Mind was released for the PlayStation exclusively in Japan in 1998. This version adds new moves and characters but removes the hidden characters and the two-line battle system.
