Rome II: Total War, also written as Total War: Rome II, is a strategy game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega for Windows PC. It is the sequel to the 2004 game Rome: Total War.

In on 16 September 2014 the game became Rome II: Total War Emperor Edition, after a free update fixing bugs, adding Mac OS support and adding both Armenia as a playable faction and a new Imperator Augustus campaign. This version replaced the original on Steam[10], but was also released physically, where it was treated as a separate release.

In July 2016 Rome II: Total War was used to create a battle simulation for the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, UK.[12][13]

History

Release

800,000 copies of the game had been sold by the half-way point of Sega's 2013-2014 financial year[14], rising to 1.13 million copies by the end[15].
