The Winter International Consumer Electronics Show 1996 (WCES 1996) was a electronics trade event that took place in January 1996. Despite there not being a "Summer CES" this year (or the previous year), the event was still naming itself after a season, possibly in the hope Summer CES would return.
Most of the video game industry broke with tradition and ignored this CES, having collectively established E3 as a means of communicating their plans and showing off new content. Some third-party publishers did attend, however, such as Accolade, Disney Interactive, Interplay and Fox Interactive.
