Yakuza 2, known as Ryu ga Gotoku 2 (龍が如く2) in Japan, is an action game developed by Amusement Vision and published by Sega for the PlayStation 2. It is the sequel to Yakuza. Another sequel, Yakuza 3, was released for the PlayStation 3 in 2009.
Yakuza 2 was rereleased in Japan as part of "PlayStation 2 The Best" budget range on 6 December 2007 for ¥1,800 (1,890 inc. tax).
Due to poor sales of Yakuza in Europe and America, Sega did not release the game in English for a long time. English version was finally released in late 2008, nearly two years after the Japanese version. It is unkown if on-line petition from fans in overseas had any effect in Sega's decision release the game eventually.
A big success in Japan, Yakuza 2 received positive reviews and sold acceptably when released in English. Some parts of the story however, criticized for being xenophobic, particulary Anti-Korean.
Yuma Asami, a famous Japanese adult video star, shows up in the game as a hostess.
