Takayuki Kawagoe was an Executive Officer at Sega. He joined the company in 1992 in the areas of production and planning, eventually becoming Assistent President of Software R&D Unit #6 which became Smilebit in 2000. In 2003 he became fully fledged President of Smilebit. With the intergration back of Smilebit back into Sega in 2004, he became Executive Officer of Sega Japan's entire output on console, handhelds and phones. He held this position until 2012, where he retired and became Director of digital companies developing smartphone applications under the Sega Sammy Holdings umbralla.
