The 8-bit versions of Super Kick Off are a pair of football games for the Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear.

Unlike its later Sega Mega Drive counterpart, this 8-bit version of Super Kick Off is an almost direct port of Kick Off 2, released by Anco Software for home computers in 1990. It most resembles the Amiga and Atari ST versions, albeit with a few changes to accommodate the differing hardware (and the inclusion of menu music, though only sound effects play in-game).

    Gameplay

    Teams

Super Kick Off has two sets of teams; club teams and national teams, neither of which have any official licensing and so consist of fictional players.

Which club teams are selectable depends on the language set for the game when starting. This means, while not all are selectable at once, there are more teams in the 8-bit version of Super Kick Off than its Mega Drive counterpart.

    National teams

    • England
    • France
    • Germany
    • Holland
    • Sweden
    • Brazil
    • Italy
    • Spain

    Club teams

When the Union Flag is chosen as a "language", teams are not named after cities, but instead use the last names of various popular clubs at the time. This means while you can't technically play as "Manchester United", you can play as "United", which just happens to play in a similar kit.

Spain is the only country not to have its own set of club teams, borrowing from the British instead.
