Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Quest is a 1993 game by Software Creations, and published by Sunsoft for the Sega Mega Drive exclusively in the US. It ties into Disney's 1991 film Beauty and the Beast.
Unusually, Sunsoft simultaneously released two Beauty and the Beast games. This one was aimed at girls, whilst Beauty and the Beast: Roar of the Beast was targeted at boys.

Story
A prince was magically transformed into a monster and his servants into household objects as punishment for his arrogance. The eccentric inventor Maurice gets lost in the forest and seeks refuge in the Beast's castle, but the Beast imprisons him for trespassing. When Maurice's horse returns without him, his daughter Belle ventures out searching for him and finds him locked in the castle dungeon. The Beast agrees to free Maurice if she takes his place as prisoner. To break his curse, Beast must learn to love Belle and earn her love in return before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose or else the Beast will remain a monster forever.
Gameplay
The game is a platformer played as Belle. She can move with and , duck with , and jump with .
Belle's health is indicated by books in the top-left corner of the screen. She takes damage from harmful creatures including bats, rats, and (despite being a Disney princess) birds and from other hazards such as bear traps. She has no attack and must avoid enemies and hazards. If she loses all of her health, she loses a try. She also loses a try if she falls down a bottomless pit. The game ends if she loses all of her tries. Her health is retained from stage to stage.
The story is progressed in between stages through cutscenes.
