The Super Pad (P-042), by Performance is a third-party Sega Mega Drive six button controller. Performance's Super Pads are very common third-party Mega Drive controllers, having been sold across the western world during the mid-to-late 1990s.
Three variants of the Super Pad exist for reasons not fully understood; this "flatter" pad (P-042) which is both more common and the basis for the Super Pad 8, released for the Sega Saturn, a more rounded pad (P-042C) which is identical to the 6 Button Arcade Pad (MK-1470) by Majesco (see that page for more details about the P-042C) and the game pad named P-042AR that has turbo switches for each action button and has a slow-motion switch on the back (it was made in cooperation with Recoton and was sold in their standard packaging, to which the Performance logo was added). BUT there is the P-042A version that the same as P-042AR but was produced without Recoton support and was sold in a standard red-and-white Performance package. The P-042 does not have turbo features, and is merely an alternative to Sega's six button control pad.
