Thunder Force VI (サンダーフォース6) is the sixth game in Technosoft's Thunder Force series of shoot-'em-ups, released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2. As Technosoft had already left the video game industry by then, they contracted Sega to develop the game. Development was put into the hands of Tetsu Okano, who assembled a team of heavyweights in the genre to develop the game, which he intends as the "first step"[2] of a plan to revive the 2D shoot-'em-up genre called Project STG.

The game has currently only been released in Japan; though Okano did consider online distribution or an Xbox 360 port if the game was successful in Japan, neither of these have materialized, and it is unknown whether either an overseas release of this game or creation of the rest of Project STG may materialize. At least in Japan, this game is often a bad evaluation.
