Teddy Boy Blues (テディーボーイ・ブルース) is a Sega Mega Drive action platform game developed by Sega CS and published by Sega. A rearranged port of the titular 1985 Sega System 1 arcade game Teddy Boy Blues, it was initially available for download exclusively on the Sega Game Toshokan online game service in 1992.[1]

The game was later encoded as the first track of the hybrid Sega Mega-CD/music album SING!! Sega Game Music Presented by B.B. Queens, and notably uses the album's songs themselves as background music during gameplay. This version also appeared on the 1994 Sega Mega-CD game compilation Game no Kanzume Vol. 2, using the soundtrack of the Mega Drive original instead.

Gameplay

History

The game's title is in reference to Japanese singer Yōko Ishino's 1985 pop single Teddy Boy Blues and her endorsement of the original arcade version; an FM hardware rendition of the single is featured as that game's background music. The original song later appeared on SING!! Sega Game Music Presented by B.B. Queens as the album's second track, and is the first song heard when playing the game, finally allowing Teddy Boy Blues to be played with the music it was originally associated with.

The original Sega System 1 version of the game had previously been ported home by Sega themselves as the October 1985 Sega Master System game Teddy Boy Blues.
